Baptisms and Confirmations
Confirmation

“Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” (The Book of Common Prayer, p. 860)

Confirmation classes at Trinity Church seek to help folks experience God and their faith in a deeper way through experiences such as worship (living through the church calendar to experience Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost.), service to others, prayer, and a retreat.  The goals of our curriculum are to take people who are familiar with their faith deeper into their faith and spirituality; to help them have a deeper experience of their faith; and to combine learning about one’s faith with doing/experiencing/practicing one’s faith.

Our program may lead to confirmation, but it doesn’t have to do so.  Some participants may already be confirmed.  The class will meet roughly twice a month until April.  Included in the class will be: learning about the Bible, discovering the history of the Episcopal Church, who is Jesus, a retreat, a mission project, experiencing new ways to pray and more!  Confirmation is usually for adults 16 and up in the Episcopal Church.  The class is also appropriate for people who would like to renew their Confirmation vows and for people who just want to learn more about their faith.  This class, which was designed by Trinitarians with experience in education, will help participants to claim their faith, to see their faith in a new light, and to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ.  Please contact a member of the clergy or call the church office at (540) 373-2996 if you are interested in confirmation.
